Laser Hair Removal Compensation Claims

Laser Hair Removal Compensation Claims

Laser hair removal is supposed to be a safe process whereby unwanted bodily hair is removed by way of a laser treatment system of which there are numerous adaptations, yet dubious claims and inappropriate equipment can lead to personal injury and loss.

Recently there has been an increase in the number of reported problems with laser hair removal systems where patients have been left either scarred or burned from the process. As the use of lasers becomes more widespread for both cosmetic treatment and also more therapeutic purposes (for example, Laser eye treatment) it is expected that this trend will increase. Whether the cause of the injury is from a defective machine or incorrect/ inappropriate operation, our personal injury solicitors will be able to provide you with clear advice from the outset

Compensation Information – Laser Hair Removal Checklist

It is essential for any clinic who offers this type of procedure to discuss all of the issues listed below with a new patient. If they do not and you suffer any injury as a result of the treatment then you may have grounds to make a claim for personal injury compensation due to their negligence in not doing so. The main points are as follows:

  1. Has the clinic tested the sensitivity of your skin?
A skin can be too delicate to be damaged instead of getting treated. Some technologies can treat all known skin types. Consult a professional to examine and discuss over your skin and infection issues prior to treatment.
  2. Has the practitioner discussed the degree of discomfort?
Do not believe in a "no-pain" process. All treatment are bound to make you uncomfortable. However, it's not anywhere near the whip-lash pain of waxing.
  3. The possibility of re-growth.
Laser hair removal cannot possibly stop hair growth, though it can reduce growth rate permanently after hair cells are killed. If a practitioner claims to eradicate hair growth completely, you should ask for testimonials and get their proof upfront; it's in their benefit to tell you their achievement.
  4. Aging equipment.
Ask for the type of laser used, whether it is effective, how long the practitioners have used the equipment and if there are newer models. You have a right to know.
  5. Safety measures.
Laser, if abused, can cause damaging effects. Check what precautions are taken, like applying a layer of protective cream over the skin or wearing eye goggles.
  6. The practitioner.
Who is actually doing the treatment? Check that the practitioner is trained, qualified and certified to carry out treatments.
  7. Ask for a test treatment.
This is a simple request which practitioners have no difficulties to fulfil. Cost will still be incurred, but your initial experience with laser hair removal gets you in the know of how a typical treatment works and in tune with the clinical environment.
  8. Get written information.
Get a written agreement on all obligations, commitment and breakdown of cost from the practitioner to ensure that he stays true to the standard of service provided.

Each individual victim will differ and as such it is important that a full diagnosis is made and that compensation is awarded that is commensurate with the injuries sustained.

If you or anybody that you know has suffered an injury as a result of laser hair removal within the last 3 years then it may be possible to make a claim for compensation.
