Accident at Home

Accidents at Home– Compensation Claims

Unfortunately the majority of accidents happen in the home and can be sub-categorised as follows:

Compensation claims for accidents and injuries caused by builders or contractors

A compensation claim can be made if a member of your household is injured because of the wrongdoing or negligence of a builder or contractor whether working inside the property or on the grounds. It is vital that you check whether or not the builder or contractor in question has the relevant Public Liability Insurance. It is almost 100% likely that he/she will have and as such you may be in a position to make a claim for compensation if he/she has acted inappropriately and these actions or lack of them has caused physical harm to you or a member of your family or a guest in your house.

Compensation claims for accidents and injuries caused by faulty and dangerous products

A compensation claim can be made if a product bought for your use at home is faulty and as a result injuries caused to you or a member of your household. Please the Product Liability Section.

Compensation claims for accidents caused by you or other members of the household

It is very unlikely that you will be able to claim against another member of your household as it is important to note that most injuries caused by members of family are indeed classified as pure accidents. Indeed to prove negligence it has to be shown that a certain duty is owed to an individual to take the necessary care.
