Sports Injury Claims

Professional and amateur sporting activities result in a large amount of the participants sustaining personal injury and loss as a result of another person’s negligence or recklessness.

Traditionally those who have been injured have always been able to seek compensation against the person deemed responsible. If you have suffered a sporting injury within the last 3 years which was caused solely by somebody else then it may be possible for you to make a claim for compensation.

Types of sports injury claims

1. Fractured foot compensation claims

More usually known as a broken foot. These range from serious displaced fractures requiring surgical intervention to less serious hairline breaks. Generally these are treated with a plaster cast and back slab. Recovery can take between six to twelve weeks and it is possible that the individual may be left with some residual disability.

2. Sprained foot compensation claims

Commonly known as soft tissue or ligament injuries. As with all injuries the symptoms vary from person to person and damages will be assessed individually depending on any residual symptoms that may exist.

3. Fractured knee compensation claims

More usually known as a broken knee. These range from serious displaced fractures requiring surgical intervention to less serious hairline breaks. Generally these are treated with a plaster cast and back slab. Recovery can take between six to twelve weeks and it is possible that the individual may be left with some residual disability.

4. Sprained knee compensation claims

Commonly known as soft tissue or ligament injuries. As with all injuries the symptoms vary from person to person and damages will be assessed individually depending on any residual symptoms that may exist.

5. Carpal tunnel

It is not always clear why Carpel tunnel syndrome occurs. It is thought that some inflammation develops in a tendon going through the carpel tunnel which causes swelling.

6. Fractured leg compensation claims

More usually known as a broken leg. These range from serious displaced fractures requiring surgical intervention to less serious hairline breaks. Generally these are treated with a plaster cast and back slab. Recovery can take between six to twelve weeks and it is possible that the individual may be left with some residual disability.

7. Sprained leg compensation claims

Commonly known as soft tissue or ligament injuries. As with all injuries the symptoms vary from person to person and damages will be assessed individually depending on any residual symptoms that may exist.

How do I make a Sports Injury claim?

In general it will be possible to make a claim in relation to injuries that you have received whilst participating in a sporting activity if one of the following 4 conditions is met:

  1. Was an opponent reckless, violent or malicious towards you which caused your injury?
  2. Was the playing surface or area where you were playing in a defective and dangerous state?
  3. Was the instruction that you were given adequate?
  4. Was the supervision (referee) suitably qualified and did he/she act reasonably?

If you can answer in the positive to any of the above then you may have grounds to make a claim for personal injury compensation and as such we recommend that you contact one of our specialist claims solicitors by completing the Claim Assessment Form.
