Eye Injury Claims

Anyone who has sustained an injury affecting either eye within the last three years may be entitled to make a claim for compensation for the pain and suffering and financial losses that they have endured as a result. Damages for personal injury are always assessed based on the individual facts of each case and take into account the seriousness of any injury and how it has affected the individual.

THE MAIN CAUSES OF EYE INJURIES:

1. Accidents at Work

Commonly, when a worker comes into contact with sparks or chips of wood, metal or masonry and he/she has not been provided with any adequate protective eyewear. Also, here any worker has come into contact with noxious substances such as toxic gas or chemicals. These can affect the eyes and cause serious damage. In these instances, a claim for compensation should be made against the injured party’s employer for failing to ensure that the worker was fully protected and for allowing any foreseeable accident to occur.

2. Road Traffic Accidents

As a driver, passenger, cyclist or pedestrian, if you sustain an eye injury as a result of an accident on the roads then you may be entitled to make a claim for compensation if it can be shown that the accident was caused by/contributed to by someone else’s wrong-doing.

3. Sports Accidents

Eye injuries often occur in the course of many sports, but are most common in contact sports. Indeed they are an accepted risk. However, if in the course of playing a sport, you come to sustain an eye injury by virtue of someone else’s recklessness or violence then it may be possible to make a claim for compensation.

4. Trips, Slips and Accidents on Roads and Pavements or Shops or Licensed Premises

Whenever a fall takes place, it is not unusual for an eye injury to be sustained. If your injuries have been caused by the fault of someone else then it is possible to make a claim for compensation.
